Forget the Interior Illusions Lounge: The queens are bringing the drama to Sin City in VH1’s new docuseries RuPaul’s Drag Race: Vegas Revue.
The six-episode reality series follows six Drag Race legends—Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly and iconic queens Asia O’Hara, Derrick Barry, Kameron Michaels, Naomi Smalls, and Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo—as they prepare to launch the RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! Vegas residency, which debuted earlier this year.
In a new clip from the premiere episode, it’s backstage drama abound as the queens prepare for the opening night of their live show. The girls are stressed to the max, which leads to tears from Asia O’Hara and Derrick Berry and…wait, is that Kameron Michaels and Miss Vanjie getting hot and heavy? What happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas when there are cameras following your every move.
As NewNowNext previously reported, RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! is produced by World of Wonder with Voss Events. The official residency announcement described the show as “the most sickening eleganza extravaganza in Las Vegas herstory. The revue is everything you love about the TV show and then some. Each live performance is packed with outrageous comedy, eye-popping fashions, over-the-top singing and dancing, heartwarming moments, plus twists and turns that will leave the audience ’gagging’ for more. The atmosphere of the show is interactive and encourages audience members’ participation as if they were attending a live episode of the world-famous competition.”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! is an immersive, interactive thrill-ride for everyone who loves to laugh, dance and sing-along when a fabulous drag queen shakes her padded ass on stage,” RuPaul said in a statement when the live extravaganza was announced.
The new clip also shows the queens learning that New York City has shut down Broadway due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and leaves them wondering what it means for their own show.
