Queer artist Janelle Monáe has called for Donald Trump to be impeached following his xenophobic remarks on Twitter.
“I’m dead convinced this idiot racist could kill someone on Twitter live in the WH west wing & u guys would be like ‘when he kills someone he reaffirms his message of division. We have to work together to reflect BLAH ,” she tweeted.
“CALL 4 IMPEACHMENT Speaker Pelosi. Stop dragging this OUT.”
Monáe was responding to comments from Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi who condoned the statement made by Trump.

“I reject @realDonaldTrump’s xenophobic comments mean to divide our nation. Rather than attack Members of Congress, he should work with us for humane immigration policy that reflects American values. Stop the raids – #FamiliesBelongTogether.”
In a series of tweets on Sunday (July 14) the president said Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib “originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe” and should “go back”.
Following backlash, the US House of Representatives this week voted to denounced Trump’s “racist comments that have legitimised fear and hatred of New Americans and people of colour”.
The vote passed by 240 votes to 187.
Those Tweets were NOT Racist. I don’t have a Racist bone in my body! The so-called vote to be taken is a Democrat con game. Republicans should not show “weakness” and fall into their trap. This should be a vote on the filthy language, statements and lies told by the Democrat…..

The resolution “condemning President Trump’s racist comments directed at Members of Congress” quoted US founding fathers and former presidents.
It laid out that immigration “has defined every stage of American history”, it said, adding that “all Americans, except for the descendants of Native people and enslaved African-Americans, are immigrants or descendants of immigrants”.
Trump denies the tweets were racist, saying that he does not have a racist bone in his body.
