Elizabeth Banks’ new take on Charlie’s Angels — a trio of kick-ass female spies — released its first trailer today.

And from the moment Kristen Stewart fake laughs at a man asking if women should be able to do anything, before strangling him with a curtain, all set to Janelle Monáe’s Make Me Feel, it become one of the gayest and most fun movie trailers of the year.

Stewart stars as one of the three titular Angels, alongside Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.

Similar to the recent Men In Black installment, this Charlie’s Angels films takes the franchise’s original mythology and expands it to an international level.

There are four Bosleys (handlers of the Angels) in this film, played by Banks, Patrick Stewart, Sam Claflin, and Djimon Hounsou, all to aid multiple teams of Angels around the world.

‘Let’s get the weapon before it becomes every bad guy’s favorite new toy,’ Banks’ Bosley says in the trailer, more-or-less summing up the movie (and every other spy movie).

The Charlie’s Angels franchise is based on the 1976 television series of the same name, which starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith.

Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz comprised the most well-known trio of Angels with their two films, Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003).

In 2011, ABC attempted to reboot the franchise on the small screen. It aired four episode before getting canceled for low ratings, and ultimately only aired seven episodes total.

Are fans here for the new Charlie’s Angels trio?

Well, just ask how people feel about Stewart in the trailer.

As my friend put it to me, Stewart exudes complete ‘chaotic queer energy’ in the trailer.

Fans are also loving the energy of the three leads together.

Plus, the movie also features a new theme song from Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Lana Del Rey. Famously, Destiny’s Child released the song Independent Woman for the 2000 film.

Charlie’s Angels arrives in theaters in the US on 15 November.
