Actor Matt McGorry (known for his roles on Orange Is The New Black and How To Get Away With Murder) is teaming up with Playboy Magazine to promote a special Pride message.

Tell me more

McGorry took to Instagram to share the news and explain why he’s partnering with Playboy.

‘Hey family! I’m proud to partner with Playboy to show the world PRIDE IS GOOD,’ he wrote. ‘Perhaps you’re surprised at my partnership with Playboy. Best believe I did give it a lot of thought. And also got the collective feedback of my incredible community of Social Impact Advisors at We Inspire Justice before saying “yes”!’

‘I am so excited by the progressive direction of the magazine. And the mission that they are embracing as they feature incredible women like Roxane Gay and Lizzo!’

‘Playboy has made a commitment to transform and the proof is in the pages! They have been putting out some really awesome, progressive content. Including the entire June issue being devoted to gender, masculinity, and sexuality.’

‘Together, we’re supporting The Trevor Project’s work to outlaw conversion therapy everywhere in America. No matter who you love or how you identify, you should feel safe AND proud of who you are. As a cis-hetero man working to be an ally, it is my honor and duty to show up for my LGBTQ siblings any chance I get.’

The post includes an image of McGorry wearing artist-designed bunny ears. The ears, designed by queer artist Favianna Rodriguez, are available for purchase along with other #PrideIsGood gear on Playboy’s website. The net proceeds of each purchase goes to support The Trevor Project’s efforts in banning conversion therapy across the United States.

‘To raise funds for The Trevor Project and its 50 Bills 50 States initiative, we commissioned seven queer artists to reimagine the iconic Bunny ears for an exclusive collection. The net proceeds of which will benefit The Trevor Project,’ Playboy’s website reads. ‘To inspire their designs, we asked each artist one question: What does Pride mean to you? The first-ever official collection of Bunny ears sold by Playboy, the collection comprises a limited run of 500 pairs per design. Pre-order yours today and join the fight to end conversion therapy across the country.’
