Meet the Logo30: Twiggy Pucci Garçon

Every day during the month of June, we will be spotlighting our 2019 Logo30. This powerful series profiles ordinary and extraordinary people who show pride in unique and provocative ways. Visit the Logo30 homepage to learn more about the series.

A fixture in the ballroom scene, Twiggy Pucci Garçon is dance performer, runway choreographer for the groundbreaking series Pose on FX, and founder of the Kiki Scene’s House of Pucci.

But long before the house and ballroom scene’s recent pop cultural moment, Twiggy has spent years working as an activist, advocate, and educator working in HIV/AIDS prevention, particularly among young queer people of color, and fighting to end youth homelessness. They are the co-writer and a subject of the award-winning documentary Kiki, about the underground kiki ballroom community in New York City.

“If you’ve been rejected by your biological family, or you’ve been kicked out or shunned, whatever the case may be, you have this surrogate family,” Twiggy tells Logo. “Ballroom is a competition. But a house is more than just a competition. That house is a real family.”

Twiggy is a program director at the True Colors Fund, overall overseer for the House of Comme Des Garcons, and a chief ambassador at the Center For Black Equity. They were also featured in HBO’s The OUT List.
